Why Should You RollOut?
Having good form and fluid movements in any exercise regime is very important in preventing injury. The range of motion (ROM) one has can either hinder or facilitate the adaptations they are looking to get from their training. In 2015 The National Center for Biotechnology Information published a study which suggests “...that foam rolling, and roller massage may be effective interventions for enhancing joint ROM and pre and post exercise muscle performance.”
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is that feeling days later of stiff and tender muscles which can inhibit your ability to work out again or perform certain tasks as easily as you once could. In the Journal of Athletic Training, a test was conducted to see how foam rolling (i.e. muscle rolling) could alleviate DOMS and improve athletic performances. The results stated that “Foam rolling effectively reduced DOMS and associated decrements in most dynamic performance measures.”
